Un nuovo misterioso criminale che si fa chiamare Spauracchio sta prendendo di mira l'Università di Gotham. Batman indagando scoprirà che Jonathan Crane, ex professore dell'università sta cercando di vendicarsi.

The Scarecrow has come up with a fear chemical that is triggered by the release of adrenaline. He uses the chemical on Gotham's greatest athletes, then bets against them to rake in the winnings. Dick Grayson, a.k.a. Robin, learns about this scheme, but while trying to help Batman track down the Scarecrow, Robin is infected by the chemical and becomes stricken senseless with fear.

Il Joker, fugge da Arkham proprio la notte di Natale. Batman non crede nella buona condotta almeno il giorno di Natale, mentre Robin è fiducioso, e sopratutto in tv la notte di Natale viene trasmesso "La Vita è Meravigliosa", film prediletto di Dick. Batman convince però Robin di pattugliare la città se non altro fino alla mezzanotte. Tutto sembra tranquillo ma proprio quando sta iniziando il film il Joker compare sulla scena. Si impossessa delle stazioni tv per trasmettere in diretta gli omicidi di Summer Gleeson, Harvey Bullock e il commissario Gordon. Batman ha solo poco tempo però per salvarli prima del peggio.

The Joker takes over Gotham's airwaves and terrorizes the city during Christmas. Holding Commissioner Gordon, Detective Bullock, and Summer Gleason hostage, he challenges Batman to find him before midnight, or else the hostages will have a very un-merry Christmas.

Un famigerato pipistrello gigante deruba alcune aziende farmaceutiche della città. Il sindaco Hill accetta la proposta del detective Bullock di rintracciare e catturare questa minaccia, da molti vista in Batman. Intanto Batman indaga su dei peli trovati su una scena del crimine, appartenenti ad un pipistrello. Da qui il collegamento arriva a Kirk Langstrom, uno zoologo di Gotham che studia su di sè l'effetto di un siero che migliora le capacità dell'uomo con quelle dei chirotteri. Gli effetti non saranno quelli previsti, e Batman dovrà trovare un antidoto.


When a horrifying bat creature terrorizes Gotham City, the authorities conclude it must be Batman and put out an all-points bulletin on  the Dark Knight. Batman's investigation leads him to the laboratory of Kirk Langstrom, who has been experimenting with a formula that  turns him into the ManBat creature. Not only does Batman have to capture Man-Bat in order to save Langstrom, but also to set the police  straight and clear his name.
